Details

One-hour course on Verbal Behavior and Operants (more than words!). Required for RCFE, ARF, STRTP, and GH recertification for administrators. This ONLINE course is designed to offer participants an introduction to the applied behavior-analytic topic of verbal behavior, which is simply defined as behavior that is reinforced through the mediation of another individual’s own behavior. Verbal behavior is not limited to spoken words! This exciting material will introduce the types of verbal operants and how they differ from one another in the outcomes that they produce. This is an essential topic for persons who support others, both within and seemingly outside of behavior support settings. Learn which types of communication produce powerful and meaningful change in the lives of those that we support.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

Identify verbal operants
Describe how operants differ in the outcomes they produce
Distinguish between types of verbal operants when provided an example of verbal behavior
