Cultural Competence,

This 2-hour course provides those required to align with – or interested in – the HCBS Final Rule. The Final Rule took effect on March 17, 2023 and provides an opportunity to provide person-centered supports across the continuum of care. We have incorporated brief references to the ten federal requirements into this course, and the ways in which service providers can demonstrate alignment with the Final Rule using refined methods of scheduling, conducting and documenting individuals’ meetings. Throughout the course, we incorporate topics such as trauma-informed and trauma-specific support, cultural competence and cultural humility, positive behavioral and person-centered support.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Define trauma-informed support

• Identify person-centered examples of implementing trauma-informed support (Important TO and FOR)

• Identify the link between cultural humility, the HCBS Final Rule, and trauma prevention
