About this course

Why it matters

This 2-hour course is part of a comprehensive series designed to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the HCBS Final Rule. While some participants will take this course to meet requirements for California's statewide implementation of federal HCBS standards, others will engage with the material to strengthen their ability to support individuals in achieving meaningful, self-directed lives. The practices presented extend beyond the March 2023 compliance deadline and are applicable across a wide range of service environments.

In this course, participants will explore a structured framework aligned with HCBS Final Rule requirements, with a focused deep dive into choice of setting as a fundamental aspect of person-centered services.

Following each key practice area, Essential CEU instructors will present practical strategies for daily implementation, including opportunities for integration into documentation, report writing, and program design enhancements.
